∞∞ Imagination is a curious thing. It is the catalyst of the mind; it transitions into style, life and adventure. Imagination can be as sporadic as a warm summer thunderstorm, or as solid as your grandmother’s cooking on a Sunday afternoon. A Focused Imagination hopes to bridge the gap between the whimsical and the practical. Enjoy our journey as we hope that it finds you in the midst of yours. A Focused Imagination. “When our first parents were driven out of Paradise, Adam is believed to have remarked to Eve: "My dear, we live in an age of transition."” - Dean Inge ∞∞ Click Image To Follow On Twitter
Walking through Washington Square Park, I heard what sounded like a small band playing some old jazz/swing music. As I approached, I was even more delighted to see a group of people swing dancing. I was curious because I had never seen this form of swing dancing before. Luckily, I caught one of the dancers on a break and asked him a few questions about the whole ensemble. He explained that the dance was called the Lindy Hop, and evolved in Harlem during the 20's and 30's. Based on the Charleston, and mostly a mix of different swing dance styles, the Lindy Hop followed the early jazz movement and was named after Charles Lindbergh's Atlantic crossing in 1927. I wish people still danced like this now, with all that energy, joy, and happiness. Here are some photos and a video about Frankie and the Lindy Hop. (Sorry about the audio quality)
Rad. You just don't stumble on this in LA. "Oh, we're dressed cool, good looking and just swinging in the middle of a park...that's all, no big thing."
