Brooklyn Flea

Made it out to the Brooklyn Flea today in the amazing old bank at One Hanson. I was really impressed with the improved selection since last year under the arch at Front St., however I decided to take the recession route with my purchases and picked up a 1940 issue of The American Rifleman. Go check out the great stuff and the incredible building, which is more than half the fun. It is running through March 27th so you have plenty of time and no room for excuses.

Start'em Young

In honor of the upcoming playoffs, here is a reminder of those days when it was all about who had the more grass stains at the end of the day.

Countdown to Christmas: It's a Wonderful Life

Next up on the Countdown to Christmas here at AFImagination is a movie that came out when Christmas films were still good enough to be nominated for Oscars...five actually. It's a Wonderful Life stars Jimmy Stewart as a small town fellow who chooses to fore go his long planned adventure of travelling the world so that he can stay and keep up the family business after death of his father. The ending of the film never fails to bring that warm feeling of generosity and thanksgiving that we should all have at this time of the year. The beautiful clothes, classic cars, and small town America setting all make for a perfect holiday movie that sure makes you proud to be from the good ole' USA. WARNING: This clip is the last 10 minutes of the film, so if you haven't seen it and don't want to ruin what could be one of your favorite Christmas movies, just say no to the play button....

Get Your Long Johns Kids, it's Cold out there!

From Focused Imagination
It may be hard out there for pimps, but for the rest of us in Texas- it's just cold. As good fortune has it though, or Mother Nature, with the cold comes the return of long johns. You can be skeptical, as many people usually are when I profess, but I can assure you that there is no other comfort known to man on a cold day. My love stems from having to wear them out of necessity when I would sleep at the ranch during deer season. Side note; be sure to pack good candy when going on early morning hunts with your Father. North Face and L.L. bean make great updated pairs.

Countdown to Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner and I have already begun my seasonal playlist of movies that I love. Over the next few weeks until Christmas, I'm going to post some of my favorite holiday classics. The movies that I will be posting are in no particular order but just simply my favorites. The first great American Christmas movie I have chosen is A Christmas Story. This is a big family favorite in my household, and for good reason. The classic American setting of Christmas in Indiana during the 50's takes me back to the time that I wish I could have experienced...when everything was a bit more simple. Enjoy the clip, see the movie, and careful not to shoot your eye out....Oh and check out Ralphie's killer style.

When Fans Knew How To Dress

I know everyone loves going to games wearing their favorite players jersey or lucky team shirt complete with the cap, and I'll be the first to admit that I'm one of those people. However, it sure is fun to look back at the days when the stadiums were filled with classy suits, ties, hats, and coats...Not to mention the sweet eyewear...Those were the good ole' days when you paid $5 for the best seat in Yankee stadium and went to the game looking as sharp as if it were your first day at work.

Hello from Florence

Just figured I would give a quick hello from Florence and show what wardrobe staples I have been sticking with during my travels. Picked up this classic wool cardigan from a Gap sale five years ago for a steal at $5 and I have worn it more than anything else in my closet; T-shirt is from J.Crew around $25 if I remember correctly. Normally I'm not a bracelet guy but hey I figured when in Rome...or for that matter Florence..All for around $5 dollars at H&M. I realize this isn't the most patriotic, made in the U.S.A outfit, but sometimes you got to give the bank account a breather...

Fun...What a Novel Idea

Baseball has a special place in my heart starting from my memories of hitting ping pong balls with a broom stick in the middle of my grandparents room at the age of 4, all the way to the most serious and intense games of my life. Baseball is something that is so purely American and so beautiful at the same time, that one can't ignore it's impact it has had on almost every little boy and grown man at atleast one point in life. Although baseball season just finished, and yes the good ole' Yanks brought home number 27, I have decided that I'm going to start posting more about the great American past time that we all know as baseball.
Here is a great special I saw on ESPN about an innovative owner, interestingly unique player, and oddly inspirational story. It's worth the ten minutes, take my word for it.

Graphic Design Circa 1200 AD

Welcome to Ghent, Belgium. Full of some of the most beautiful and uniform architecture I have ever seen, Ghent is an amazing town that really transports you back to the medieval times. However, this place really took the cake when I went on a visit to the main castle that dates back to the 12th century, and discovered that during its heyday the prisoners were responsible for the production of many of the garments to be sold in the markets. Not only this, but each had its own unique label that was to be stamped on every sack of garments when they left the prison. Could this be some of first graphic designs of clothing labels ever? Just let me dream...

The Man With A Plan

Figure I would step out on a limb and post a photo of myself. Unfortunately I forgot to bring a Halloween costume (not exactly the first thing you think of when packing for Spain for 4 months), so I just decided to go as myself, "The Man With a Plan". Starting from the top; Ray-Ban Clubmasters, Polo Ralph Lauren gingham linen shirt, H&M Blazer (price was ridiculously low and fits perfect), APC New Standards, and a vintage Beau Brummell Snapper Tie passed down from my grandfather.

Latest Ebay Treasure

My new favorite sweater for the winter is this Thom Browne Black Fleece, 12 ply cashmere, cable knit, hand made in Scotland sweater...Whew that was a mouth full...I found it on ebay for a steal in my opinion, considering what the retail price is.

Colors of Royalty

Of all the rich and beautiful antiquities I have seen here in Spain, I have been amazed at the rich colors of the stained glass windows found in the castles that have withstood the test of time and battles. Here are a few my favorites thus far.
